Ceramica Francesco De Maio wins the prestigious 

Compasso d'Oro Career Award 2024

 

 

The most coveted design award in the world was recognised 

by ADI (Industrial Design Association) 

during the ceremony on 20 June in Milan in the 

 

‘Career Award 2024 for the product’, 

Blu Ponti Collection 

designed by architect Gio Ponti in 1960

The reason: “With these white and blue majolica tiles, Gio Ponti applied his experience earned in the ceramic sector and reinforced the relationship between industry and craftsmanship. The Italian sky and sea become iconic symbols which solidify the relationship between technique and narrative that is typical of Italian design.”

Blu Ponti - the majolica collection composed of 33 blue and white decorations, designed in the 1960s by Gio Ponti, the great Italian architect and designer, and still very much in vogue today - enters the ADI Design Museum and is permanently part of the Compasso d'Oro Collection, one of the most significant international testimonies of design from the 1950s to the present day, recognised in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture as a 'good of exceptional artistic and historical interest' and included in the national heritage.
